HAIKU

LONELINESS
Oh, dark, empty room
with crying, bleeding heart
it tears me apart.

SELF-RELIANCE

SELF-RELIANCE
Oftentimes, we are afraid to express ourselves. We are hesitant to speak what is on our mind. And we easily dismiss our thoughts because it is ours. I can personally testify to that because I myself always doubt my capacity. I am always afraid to speak my thoughts for I worry if my ideas are correct or not. I can say that for most of us, its more easier to rely on others than to rely on ourselves.
"To believe your own thought, to believe what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men--that is genius." This line from the famous essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson strucked me most. It encourages us to acknowledge our ideas and to speak our minds. It tells us to be confident enough. We have to keep in mind that we should never feel inferior to others because we are all created equal. Because a man can be truly happy if he has tried and done his best on what he's doing. For if we do nothing, we gain nothing. The main point here is To Trust One's Self.
Sometimes, the reason for our hesitation to do what we want roots from the judgment done by others to us. We fear being criticized thats why we do anything just to please others. We always think that we need to conform to what is expected from us. Moreover, we do things not because we want to do it but because we think that we need to abide the rules of the society.
What we should do is to try not to please others. Because if we do, then it wouldn't end. For there are always those persons who think that they know our duty better than us. Meaning, there are people who will try to pull us down no matter what we do. That is the reason why we should never base our decisions from the expectation of others. Because if there's one person that we should please, It is Only GOD.
Most of the time, we pretend to agree to what others may say even if it contradict our thoughts. We force ourselves to agree in order to avoid arguments. We easily gave a fake smile to a certain person even if we don't like him or even if he had harmed us. We always act gentle and safe for we are afraid to reveal our true identity or the negative side of us.
But why bother to be pretentious, when we can be us? Instead of going through the hassles of of pretending, didn't we think thats its easier to be ourselves? "A character is like an acrostic stanza--read it forward, backward, or across, it spells the same thing." This sentence is definitely right because whatever we do, we are us. Its better to be harsh and say rude words than to be a hypocrite. Yes, we will surely be misunderstood if we do it, but i see nothing wrong with it. What we have to remember is To Be True To Ourselves Always.
Nowadays, technology arises in our society. Many gadgets are invented to make life easier for us. There are a lot of vehicles like motorcycles and cars to make transportation easier. Even in malls, there are escalators to avoid the hassle of climbing in the stairs. And computers are everywhere to replace manual work. We do not rely on ourselves anymore but to these gadgets. And most of the time we see the value of a person not because of what he is but because of what he has.
Having these gadgets alleviates the value of a man. He has lost the use of his feet because of the different machines invented. He couldn't even tell the hour by simply looking at the sun because he relies not on his skill but on his watch. These gadgets lessens the confidence of men because people often believe that macines are more reliable. But we have to note that arts and inventions of each period are only its costume and do not invigo0rate men. Because if these machines has advantages, it also has disadvantages. "The Great Genius Returns To An Essential Man".
We have to insist n ourselves and never imitate. We have to do what is assigned to us and never hope or dare too much. Because every great man is unique. Reside in the simple part of your life and always obey your heart. BE CONFIDENT ENOUGH AND RELY ON YOURSELF!

a film review

"Life is Beautiful"
(A FILM REVIEW)
Summary:
"Life is Beautiful" is all about the life of Guido and how he faced the challenges that had come to him. In the story, Guido is seen as a funny person who enjoys life. One day, he fell inlove to a beautiful woman whom he called his "Princess". But unfortunately, that woman whose real name is "Dora" is engaged to be married to a man whom Guido didn't like. Dora's fiancee is an arrogant and a very proud man. Because Guido was such a kind and humurous guy, Dora eventually fell inlove with him. And on the day of Dora's engagement, they eloped. Years after that, they had enjoyed a simple and happy life together with their cute and bright son whom he named "Joshua". But on the day of Joshua's 6th birthday, their peaceful life was ruined when Guido together with their son was deported and put to a place where they were prisoned. Guido, together with all other men were required to do a heavy job. On the other hand, Dora was also treasoned because she chose to. But she was not able to see her husband and son because she was put into another place. And because joshua was a bright boy, he kept on asking about whats happening. But then, his father don'tt want him to be hurt and worry, so, he make it look to him as if they were just playing. Guido had done everything to protect his family and for them to be out on that terrible place. Finally, Guido succeeded, Dora and Joshua was able to see each other. Unfortunately, he died beacause he sacrificed his own life for the one's he love.

MAIN CHARACTERS:
  • Guido - a humorous and very loving person
  • Dora - Guido's love attraction
  • - a loving mother and wife
  • Joshua- intellegent son of Guido and Dora
CINEMATOGRAPHY:
The film's cinematography is good. The sounds/music used fit the story. It could trigger the emotions of viewers such as being excited when there is something suspense thats happening. The sounds used for the funny scenes made it more look comical. The sounds they used really served its purpose thats why the movie came out to be beautiful and effective.
On the other hand, the light used or the appearance of the light on the screen is somewhat dim. Maybe because the movie is kinda old. But other than that, theres no other problem.
The setting used also add to the effect of the movie.
Overall, the cinematography of the movie is good.

PERSONAL INSIGHTS:
I really enjoyed the movie. It triggered a lot of emotions from me. It made me happy and smile. It made me fall in love and giggle. And it made me sad and cry. At first, I kept on laughing because the scenes were very funny. How Guido had handled those different situations was so humorous. I also giggled because of the love story of Guido and Dora. But then, at the middle of the story, I started to worry, thinking of what would happen next to Guido's family. And finally, at the end, I cried! I think the movie is really touching and i admired the character of Guido especially when he sacrificed his own life just to save his wife and son. I really didn't expect that he was gonna die. At first, I thought that the soldier was the one who died and not him. to be honest, I am not satisfied with the ending of the story. And if i Would be the director, Guido would probably not die. Although the story is amazing, I think it would be best if Guido didn't die. For me, it would be more satisfying if Guido together with his son was alive and he saw his wife again.

T'NALAK FESTIVAL
What is T'nalak Festival?
The T'nalak Festival is named after a woven cloth popularized by the province's T'boli tribe and is slated on July 12-15. The festival is celebrated during the foundation anniversary of South Cotabato. It showcases the unique and colorful traditions of the t'boli tribe of South Cotabato. Its highlight are the streetdancing competition and the agro-industrial fair here in Koronadal city.
This week long celebration shows the province's rich and diverse culture. Creative stalls were sporadically seen everywhere which advertised the province's native products. Ornate designs of nipa huuts located on Alunan sidewalks attract tourists as well as exhibits each municipalities creativity. And the streetdancing which is one of the highlight of the festival conveys each municipalities uniqueness.
The different competitions held such as the literary, singing and dancing contests, and the battle of the bands just shows that Cotabatenos are talented. And the different rides at the protech center brings joy not only to children but to people of different ages. And the beautiful fireworks display definitely added to the beauty and extravagance of the T'nalak festival.
A lot of people could be seen celebrating the festival at night. At night, there are those who prefer to watch the battle of the bands at the alunan avenue; some are strolling, appreciating the nipa hut display; others chose to go to "ukay2" to buy used but still usable products; while others are at the protech center enjoying the rides; and many go to the South Cotabato Cultural Gym to witness the socio-cultural events being held there. People may have different purpose in coming to Koronadal to witness the T'nalak festival but one thing is common, most of them are absolutely enjoying.
Truly, T'nalak festival is essential because it gives the Cotabatenos the opportunity to show off their talents and creativity as well as the chance to exhibit the beauty of South Cotabato's itself and its native products. SADNESS
Sadness is just one word chosen to represent much. To tell feelings inside that senses can't touch. Sadness is a dark night in a very sunny day, wherein darness overcomes lightness. In sadness, feelings seemed to be wary, everything seems to be dull and boring. Everything is black, feeling of weakness everywhere. Oh, it's like being alone in a cold, dark, rainy day, watching each raindrop fall, unnoticing the tears that swiftly falls. And all that is recognized is the bleeding heart which tores slowly. SAdness is a pain you feel. It is a fain you know but can;t explain. A pain so fierce you go insane. It causes you to bleed while others make you cry. And its like a knife tearing into your skin. Sadness is being lost in a maze that cannot be solved, as if no one can escape the feeling of isolation. No sound of hope, just quiet humming and distant murmuring.

HAPPINESS
Happiness is like a sunny day,
Brightens up one's day in a way.
Just like the sun that gives light to all,
It makes you wanna stand up when you fall.

Happiness uplifts me,
It fills my heart, my mind, my soul.
It takes my sadness away,
And fills my eyes with joy.

Happiness is avery source of inspiration,
Makes people get going.
It is a source of admiration,
That may result to people's smiling.

Happiness gives us relief from tensions.
It teaches us what life means.
Happiness is a joy beyond compare,
And we wouldn't be bore.

Happiness is needed by everyone,
and couldn't be bought by no one.
It is priceless,
And without it, LIFE is useless.

Happiness is in caring; It is in sharing
Happiness is in unity; It is in beauty
Happiness is in immortal love; most importantly true
HAPPINESS is in the chapter called LIFE.
